On my first term I had the opportunity to delve deeper into many interesting topics related to the new media landscape on two courses: Transformations in Digital Culture and Real Virtualities. Using the PBL method, we had interesting and relevant discussions in our tutorials and it is hard to pick a favorite.

Anecdote

A phenomonological anecdote on the relationship with people in an online education setting

My first tutorial starts. I look over my screen and see unfamiliar faces inside squares, each beside the other, in a grid. I look at all of them curiously, one by one, trying to make sense of their expressions. It is hard to tell how they are feeling since I can only see their faces. They all look awkwardly at the camera while the Professor asks us: “Can everybody hear me?”. We all nod. I try to adjust my camera angle but no position seems to be good enough. As my other classmates start to introduce themselves, my body starts to feel anxious while I wait for my turn to do it.
