About Me

My name is Mohammad Aboelela and I am a digital society bachelor student at Maastricht university, Netherlands. I moved to the Netherlands as a-20-year-old- Egyptian who was studying at a German school in Cairo and graduated by obtaining a German Abitur diploma. I feel really grateful to have been influenced by western and eastern cultures simultaneously , as it made me grow as a person immensely. It also made me appreciate the comfortable traits of the eastern culture and the hard-working ethics of the western culture.

While I was studying in school, my country went through drastic political changes, that caused the economy to plummet. The 2011 revolution led against the Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak made most teenagers in the country want to see their country in a stronger, more democratic state than it has been for the last 30 years. I am amongst those individuals, as I knew that each and every one of us had to do his part in order for our country to rise up from the ashes of corruption. I knew in order to do that i needed to understand how technology influences politics, society and the world as a whole. And that is why I chose this digital society bachelor.
