This Blog Post will discuss another important topic concerning today’s modern technologies, mainly the problem concerning excessive social media use. In order for one to understand social media addiction, one must first understand the meaning of addiction. Addiction is a compulsive behavior of abusing something so much that it starts having negative effects on the person. Nowadays most social media users couldn’t go without using it for more than an hour, a lot wouldn’t even go 5 minutes without checking their phones. People have become addicted to the constant gratification that social media websites grant them. It is unbelievable how these platforms have become essential to our daily lives. One can realize this just by looking at people in the street, everyone is walking around looking at their phones, totally distracted from the rest of the world. So much time is wasted while one is using apps like Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, etc… If any individual would have used this time to do something more productive, he/she would’ve excelled in it. However through the use of these Apps, one gains a lot of knowledge about topics concerning the modern world. One just needs to be able to filter out the real news from the fake news, as to not fall, victim, to the next Cambridge analytica scandal.
